Vi planerar att ha ett diskussionsmöte igen den 5 januari, som vanligt en torsdag kl 16 med akademisk kvart vid Valegården.
Denna gång har vi täkt att diskutera statsskicket, dvs monarki, republik, ev annat. Vi har en hel del kunskap om detta inom föreningen så det kan säkert bli intressant att lyssna eller delta i diskussionen.

Thorbjörn's vetomodell
Riktig demokrati förutsätter att ingen allvarligt kommer i kläm för att en majoritet bestämmer över minoritet. För att garantera att inget sådant inträffar kan man ha ett system med vetorätter. Det betyder att den som har vetorätt har rätt att säga nej till ett förslag med påföljden att det då inte går att antas ens om det finns majoritet för förslaget.
Detta har provats i praktiken i Polen. Detta historiska exempel gav upphov till det som kallas Polsk Riksdag, där alla pratar och diskuterar så mycket att i praktiken inga beslut kan fattas.
Man kan tänka att detta berodde på att var och en för sig hade vetorätt, benämnes absolut veto, liberum veto, fritt veto, eller Polskt veto.
Den nya idén är att kanske det skulle kunna fungera med en lite mjukare vetorättskonstruktion, som att det skulle krävas t.ex att 10% av de röstande säger nej. Det kanske finns en optimal bråkdel, men den bestäms säkert av så många skiftande faktorer att det är bättre att hugga till med en någorlunda rimlig andel.
Kan detta ha relevans t.ex hur dagens Förenta Nationer fungerar? Där har ju vissa länder vetorätt var för sig. Vore det bättre med ett system enligt Thorbjörn's modell?

Föreslagna diskussionsämnen: republikanism (vi får referat från Republikanska Föreningen), valet i Marocko (se även UNT-artikel fredag den 25 nov), bensinpriser värden över (hur väljer demokratierna, subventionera eller beskatta?), definiera populism, klimatet som utmaning för demokratiska system, Google-koden.

"Statschefsfrågan"
Hej!
Frågan om Sverige ska ha en statschef som ärvt sitt ämbete eller om Sverige ska införa ett valt statschefsämbete eller helt klara sig utan s.k. "statschef" kan vara ett ämne för vår demokraticirkel att diskutera. Alltså "monarki" eller "republik"! Läs även republikanska föreningen webbplats:
Republikanska föreningen hade kongressdag lördagen den 12 november 2011 i Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center. Kongressdagen bestod av två seminarier samt en "kongress" (=årsstämma). Bland många andra var Ingor Lind på plats. Även SVT var på plats och spelade in hela dagen. Inspelningen av kongressdagen har sänts i SVT2 och finns att se på SVT Play.

Ska US nu censurera Internet?

Right now, the US Congress is debating a law that would give them the power to censor the world's Internet -- creating a blacklist that could target YouTube, WikiLeaks and even groups like Avaaz!
Under the new law, the US could force Internet providers to block any website on suspicion of violating copyright or trademark legislation, or even failing to sufficiently police their users' activities. And, because so much of the Internet's hosts and hardware are located in the US, their blacklist would clamp down on the free web for all of us.
The vote could happen any day now, but we can help stop this -- champions in Congress want to preserve free speech and tell us that an international outcry would strengthen their hand. Let’s urgently raise our voices from every corner of the world and build an unprecedented global petition calling on US decision makers to reject the bill and stop Internet censorship. Det är dags att träffa igen!
Föra gången bestämde vi att ses på torsdag den 17 november kl 16.20 vid Valegården, för att fortsätta påbörjade diskussioner om
de senaste händelserna kring eurokrisen.
Gunnar föreslår dessutom att bloggen kan användas för mer preciserad diskussion om populism och vad populism är för något. En ny etikett för populism har skapats som alla inlägg som berör populism kan utmärkas med.
